Naturally Nautical
The Lake Yard Club enjoys a unique waterfront location with outstanding views of Poole Harbour, Arne peninsula and the Purbeck hills. Our welcoming clubhouse complements our location and on-water atmosphere.
The interior boasts decor in keeping with our sailing and boating heritage; a sailcloth ceiling, stripped wooden floors and unique chrome beer pumps. The walls pay homage to our heritage of powerboat racers, avid sailors and motor boat owners.
Outside on the decking, the theme is ‘Naturally Nautical’. It’s a real sun trap on cloudless days where you can bask in the sunshine and take in the view. It’s a great place for meeting up with friends and family and you’re always sure of meeting some friendly folk. During the sailing season we’ll have our wood-fired pizza oven, drum barbecue or village-sized paella stove fired up.
The Club takes great pride in having a full calendar of events and functions including live music, themed evenings, dining experiences, quiz nights and much more. We hold our famous ‘Street Markets’ on the boat yard on seasonal dates which offers regulars and visitors alike a great opportunity to savour some of the best Dorset produce.
Food forThought
The Lake Yard Restaurant, with its decked area facing the harbour, is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. Head Chef Richard and his team serve freshly prepared and cooked food every day. Unsurprisingly, fish and seafood is a speciality and there is always a selection of freshly-caught whole fish on the menu. We also offer a staple menu of dining favourites, all with the unique Lake Yard twist and always cooked to perfection.
A number of live music and themed dining events take place during the year: recent experiences have included cuisine from Italy and Spain as well seasonal game and seafood extravaganzas. These evenings offer an opportunity to try something new, meet with other club members and impress your guests.
You’ll find the ambience of Lake Yard’s restaurant soothing, with friendly, efficient staff and delicious food. Don’t take our word for it, book a table and see for yourself
Raising the Bar
The Lake Yard Bar is always a refreshing welcome after a long day at sea and here you can swap tall tales with fellow sea farers over a pint or two. The Bar is friendly and relaxed and is open to members and visitors, sailors and land lubbers alike. It’s both elegant and informal; as much a perfect place to meet clients for business meetings as it is for a cheeky gin with friends.
There are several draught beers and ciders on tap as well as a comprehensive range of bottled ales, ciders and non-alcoholic beers. The bar offers an eclectic array of wines from around the world including some perky pinks and fabulous fizz. Seonagh, the Club’s general manager, makes it her mission to introduce the bar’s customers to new experiences and has not earned the nickname of ‘The Gin Queen’ without reason. If you’re off the booze, there’s plenty of soft drink options as well as tea, coffee and the renowned Lake Yard Hot Chocolate.
The Lake Yard Club is definitely not a sports bar but it does have a widescreen television at one end for those special occasions such as football finals, the Six Nations and Wimbledon. But more often than not you’ll want to relax on the decking or in the conservatory and just take in the view.
The Deck Room
The Deck Room is a private dining and function space with sea views, private access from the restaurant and access to our waterfront deck. With its feature wall and festoon lighting, this is the perfect place for any special event.
Maximum numbers vary during the summer and winter seasons and we can tailor a booking to your needs. Whether this be a standing event or a sit-down meal, you can choose from our a la carte menu, a tapas-style sharing platter or a bespoke set menu created by head chef Richard Smedley. In the summertime we can offer you a barbecue, a wood-fired pizza oven or even paella served from the outside bar. Canapés, cheese boards or a Prosecco, gin and bottle are also available.
