Join us at Lake Yard on Saturday 8 February 2025 for a charity fundraising dinner in honour of Tim Crossin, The Cold Dip Commando.

A series of ‘cold dips’ in freezing waters have been taking place around the UK this January in memory of Royal Marines veteran and Lake Yard Member Tim Crossin, aka the ‘Cold Dip Commando. After an eight-year battle with five different forms of cancer and severe heart failure caused by the treatment, sadly Tim lost his valiant battle to the disease in early December 2024.

During his stoic efforts fighting cancer, Tim began swimming every morning at his local beach, Branksome Chine, in Dorset and soon setup the Cold Dip Commando Challenge. For his first challenge, Tim went on a trip of around 3,000 miles around the UK in 2023, making 31 dips along the way, from Cornwall to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

A mixture of ex-marines and friends did the same again in 2024 – all to raise cash for charity causes: The Royal Marines Charity, Lymphoma Action, Rock 2 Recovery and the Bowra Foundation. Tim aimed to be in the water in 2025 for another epic 31-stop challenge, finishing at his local beach, but it wasn’t to be.

Despite his death, surrounded by his family on December 3, 2024, Tim’s dream of another cold dip challenge will live on through his loved ones as a celebration of his life and to continue his mission of spreading positivity and supporting causes. We would love to help Tim complete this dream in his absence so please come and join us on Saturday 8th of February to honour and remember the Cold Dip Commando and help to support his chosen charities.

At Lake Yard on Saturday 8th February 2025, we will be hosting a charity dinner in honour of the Cold Dip Commando and to continue his tremendous work raising money for charities. We will be presenting a fabulous three-course meal (including wine) prepared by our head chef Rich. The meal will cost £60 per head which will also include a charitable donation to Tim’s four charities. There will also be a charity auction which will include a limited edition watch donated by our Lake Yard partners Elliot Brown.
